When I photograph a wedding, it’s done through my documentary eye so that the photographs record a true behind-the-scenes story of connections, themes and a genuine sense of occasion. Some of these are to be expected and some can be pleasantly not.
A real wedding photo story to me is about showing the buzz around getting ready, and intimate relationships between family and friends as well as the couple. A story that shows lots of different emotions playing out in their own natural way.
We work in a team of three. The bride, the groom and me. Getting to know each other through an informal photo shoot before the wedding day. It might be a rehearsal or a place that has meaning to you. Basically it gives us the opportunity to share some things about ourselves. Our creativity and how we’ll be working together.
By the time your day arrives, I will be the familiar face searching for all those candid scenarios not noticed, as you are all too busy living them.
